   The Byzantine Choir  Idimelon, was founded in 1999, because of the wish of young chanters, students of the most important teachers of the city, who are serving in various churches of Thessaloniki, to create a new vocal group. The name Idimelon, is given in April 2003.

     Choroist and artistic director is Ioannis Tsamis. Administrative director is Theodoros Sirpis. Director of communication and public relations is Dimitrios Kehagias. These three constitute the administrative council.

     From its' first appearances, the Byzantine Choir Idimelon had excellent criticisms, for its sound, style and the good quality of the performances. Below are mentioned some of the appearances,collaborations and participations :

- In the CD of Petros Gaitanos "the Source of Life" with Byzantine hymns for the Virgin Mary.
- In the Music Hall of  Thessaloniki.
- In various churches of the Metropolis of  Thessaloniki (Saint Dimitrios, Saint Sofia,e.t.c.).
- In the metropolitan church Saint Nikolaos of Alexandroupolis, organised by the local municipality.
- In the international musical seminar of the municipality of Vertiskos, in August 2000.
- In the 3rd  world festival of sacred music of Patmos, in September 2003.
- In the congress "Thessalonica - Alexandria" during the 38th festival of  Dimitria 2003, with the high presence of His Beatitude Petros VII Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa  .
- During the 39th festival of Dimitria , with guest soloist ,Theodoros Vasilikos, in October 2004.

      In April 2004, the Byzantine Choir  Idimelon created its first CD titled "Today Christ is coming..."  with hymns and carols for Saint Lazarus from various regions of Greece and Cyprus. Because of this presentation, the same period, realised 2 concerts in Limassol and Larnaca. 

      Aiming at the research, study, rescue, distribution and notification of Byzantine music in various lengths and widths of the world, the Byzantine Choir Idimelon, is trying  to consolidate the Byzantine music in the conscience and preference of each worshipper of  the historical authentic and qualitatively real Byzantine music style.
